the bmi-opener…

A few months ago I decided (stupidly I might add) to check out my BMI number. That is, my Body Mass Index number which is calculated based on a person’s height and weight and determines the overall general fitness of an individual. So I found an online BMI calculator, punched in my towering height of 5-10 and the even more impressive number of 238 pounds for my weight,  and got a BMI number of just over 34. “Hmm,” I thought, “I wonder if it’s good when your BMI number is less than your age?” Read More »

got my geek on…

Halloween weekend of 2009 (I told you I had some old blogs to post) brought with it the fourth annual Central Canada Comic Con, also cleverly known as the C4 (an explosive event). An extremely fast growing gig, it has become the second largest of its kind in Canada next to Toronto’s Comic Con. For [...]

Dr.Feelgood ain’t feeling so good now….

Remember the doc that slammed on his brakes in order to get back at a couple of cyclists on the road? Well if you don’t remember, it’s only a couple of posts back. Click here for the results of his trial.

I’m back….

Finally back from a far too long hiatus! Have been in a real funk since Christmas time and naturally things have gone downhill in my quest. I have updated my weight loss (and gain) in “The Numbers” page and am putting the finishing touches on a number of blogs that date back all the way [...]

he’s the one they call dr.feelhood

This will be an interesting sentencing. A doctor in LA was found guilty on seven counts of various road rage infractions against two cyclists. His car against their bikes, sounds fair. He could get up to 10 years. Read the LA Times story here. Think they deserved it?

yeah sioux sioux

Just got home from a weekend in the good ol’ U.S. of A which included a weekend of shop-til-you-drop (or spend all your money which in my case didn’t take long) and a UND Fighting Sioux hockey game. Wow, what an event! The students make the atmosphere in what is by far my favourite arena. [...]

tater stops

So the city of Winnipeg is considering what is known in cycling circles (oh yes, I’m in the circle) as the Idaho Stop Law. Basically this law states that cyclists, when approaching a stop sign with little or no traffic around, can roll through it without coming to a complete stop….you know, just like the motorists [...]

name my bike!

Time to lighten things up around here don’t ya think? I’ve finally changed the poll question to determine what my current bike’s name will be. I’ve added all of the names suggested and your votes are ready to be tallied. Remember, whichever name gets the most votes wins, and the person that submitted the winning name [...]

a sad day in our home…

It’s with a tremendously heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved dog Bailey at noon today, October 19, 2009 at the St.Vital Animal Hospital on our own terms.
I will never forget the first encounter I had with Bailey; I had met her owner Leslie one evening (where and when isn’t important…okay it [...]

who’s that girl?

So I still have not ridden since hurting my back way back on Labour Day. It’s been three weeks now and although I’ve managed to jump on the elliptical trainer now and again, I just didn’t want to push it. Then last week we took advantage of the great fall weather we had to put [...]

a minor set back…spasms

The ceiling in our bedroom has some hairline cracks in it. I just noticed it this morning as I lay flat out on my back in bed, unable to move. I won’t be riding or jumping on the elliptical trainer today, maybe not even tomorrow or the next day. I’ve suffered my first injury of [...]
